02:03 pm - Visual Kei Fashion The intricate development of one’s visual kei or J-rock inspired style includes having or creating the right coordinates to compliment or characterize one’s look. In Japan, these accessories are often found at Studio Alta stores or “character goods” shops like in Shimokitazawa between Shibuya and Shinjuku where one can find unique pieces to create an outfit inspired from anime characters or to simply add a piece of originality to one’s style. In America, character goods shops are not as easy to find, which generates a DIY aspect of people taking what they can get, say, from Hot Topic, Halloween costume stores, vintage clothing outlets, Mac cosmetics, Hard Candy, Manic Panic, Tokidoki, and other places (often discovered and purchased mostly online) to create their visual kei coordinates.
